Obituary for Gina Molgaard

Gina Molgaard, age 87, passed away Saturday, November 24th, 2018 at Bolton Lake Cottage in Lac du Flambeau, WI. Gina was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 1st, 1931 to Alex and Agnes Gabardi. She graduated from North Division High School and attended the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She moved to Eagle River in 1950 and married Joe (Enoch) Molgaard on January 5, 1955. On May 3rd, 1991 Joe preceded her in death.

Gina shared her life with so many people and delighted in seeing them. Together with her husband, Joe, Gina’s gracious smile and warm hugs will be fondly remembered during their ownership of The Legendary Molgaard’s Indian Lodge in St. Germain for over 30 years. The favorite Northwoods Supper Club known for its excellent cuisine gained national recognition when Ford Motor Company featured The Supper Club in “Ford Times”.

Gina was the organizer and the President of Lake Marion Association and in that role spearheaded the acquisition of electricity and phones for the home owners. She loved being by the lake and in the woods and watching the humming birds flocking to her feeders. She enjoyed playing nine holes of golf, even though her score equaled her age. She also played cribbage and solved crossword puzzles.

Gina was a compassionate and generous woman who loved to celebrate life with people even as she struggled with dementia. In addition to her husband Joe, Gina was preceded in death by her sister Flora Bertino, brother Arthur Gabardi and niece Lisa Bertino.

Gina is survived by: lifelong friend and caregiver Marsha Lewis of Watersmeet, MI; brother: Alex (Jean) Gabardi of Brookfield, WI; sister-in-law: Myong Cha Gabardi of New Berlin, WI; brother-in-law: Tony (Betty) Bertino of Brookfield, WI; nieces: Christine (Pat) Schaffer of Spokane, WA, Dawn Gabardi of Milwaukee, WI; Nephews: Mark (Elizabeth) Gabardi of Oconomowoc, WI, Michael Bertino of Milwaukee, WI, James (Sheila) Bertino of Franklin, WI; also, surviving are great nieces: Kaitlyn Gabardi, Amanda Schaffer, Rachael Weeks; great nephew Kevin Schaffer; and the Warren and Dorothy David Family of Racine, WI.

A memorial service will be held on Monday December 10th, 2018 at 11am at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eagle River. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated by the family.
